If you want to support a band, see them live. Not only is it awesome and fun even if they suck in person, but it actually makes them money compared to buying their music.
This needs to stop. Seriously, this whole system is fucked up. The artists most likely won’t see any of this money anyway, it will just continue to feed the greedy sponsors/labels and all that crap.
That guys life is basically ruined, he won’t be able to pay all of that back and survive unless he lives easy to begin with. We need copyright reform. We need to stop these greedy corporate thugs, we need the Pirate Party!. Haha, no but seriously something needs to be done about this. Obviously things like war and the economy are more important(not that this doesn’t effect the economy) but those things don’t effect my life as much as things like this do.
I can’t say I support everything they do but at least someone is out there trying to fix something thats clearly broken.
VLC is a lightweight media player, it is open source and available on every major OS. It also supports a shit ton of files. I use VLC for everything, seriously heres a list.
Anyway the new update plays HD videos smoother due to hardware video acceleration which basically improves the experience for anyone with a half decent computer. This has been something people have wanted for some time apparently, I didn’t know or really care VLC has always been awesome and given me no problems.
However a major drawback was the loss of shoutcast streaming. AOL apparently demanded the volunteer developers at VLC to remove the feature. I guess AOL misses their good old power tripping days of the early twentieth-century.
The shirt today on woot is pretty awesome. For anyone who doesn’t know woot is a website that does daily deals. Lots of electronic stuff, TV’s, refurbished computers etc…they do have a lot of good stuff though. I pretty much only go there for the shirts, its $10 on the day of the deal and they do free shipping. Not to mention they look bad ass.
So today is the dawn of a new age. This will be my new home on the web and hopefully will be a good resource for other people as well. I would like to thank Akensai, an old friend for getting me this domain, hosting and pretty much everything related to this website. His link is at the top of the page and he has a lot of cool shit on his site so definitely check it out.
The About page is up and running, hopefully that will give anyone who is new here and plans on sticking around an idea as to what the future will hold for this site.
